"History of the Trubschachen Art Exhibition".
Walter Berger (1906-1981), a teacher in Trubschachen, wanted to make art accessible to his pupils and a circle of fellow human beings. He was guided by the principle that only the best is good enough to inspire someone for art. So he began to show paintings by Anker, Hodler and Koller in the old village school building alongside works by his friend Cuno Amiet. The first large exhibition followed in 1964 in the newly built Hasenlehn schoolhouse. It was the beginning of a long success story. The commitment of the Kambly family played an important role. Exhibitions of paintings by Albert Anker, Giovanni Segantini, Ferdinand Hodler, Giovanni Giacometti, Cuno Amiet, Félix Vallotton and others were held at regular intervals. Over time, only experts were allowed to handle the paintings, and many things became more elaborate. But time and again it was possible to show important art to a broad public. In 2017, the 20th art exhibition attracted more visitors than ever before. It was a huge success, but the organisation reached its limits. Afterwards, there was talk of stopping, also because the president and many board members wanted to resign. But new people were found who want to continue the tradition in a feasible way and with new approaches.
